What does Pro-Canadian Mean?

I encourage anyone who is interested in Canada and Canada's independant view to read the following link. It is essential that we hold to "our sense of ourselves" as a people just as much as it for us, as gay folk to hold onto our own sense of personal identity!

It is from our centre of truth that we relate to others both as individuals and as a country. In the late nineteenth century Canada was often depicted as a virginal young woman still clinging to the skirts of a protective mother (Britian) and Uncle Sam was depicted as the leering lecherious old man eyeing the young woman.

I see Canada as a woman, trained to be co-dependant, being courted by a scheming and dishonest Uncle Sam. Uncle Sam has his own agenda of exploitation, but the young woman is drawn to his strength and wealth. Having struggled long to free herself to some degree from the attachment to her mother, she is in danger of giving up her power to be in a relationship.
